Chasing the Bodyguard

Looking for a book that will make you laugh just as much as it’ll make you blush? Check out Chasing the Bodyguard by Grace Risata.

Genre: Comedic Romance

Overall Rating: 6/6 Glass Slippers

Leandra is a woman in a man’s world. As as the boss of an Irish mob syndicate, she’s learned how let her bark be just as deadly as her bite and she rules with an iron fist. But even she needs a little backup, so she hires Sam as her bodyguard. He’s up for the challenge of keeping her safe, but she’s a firecracker that doesn’t take kindly to being told what to do. He’s a cockblocker, a rule maker, and it drives her crazy that she can’t have him.

Sam has a job to do and won’t let his attraction to his boss mess things up. But he also has a few secrets under his belt that refuse to be hidden, even though he just wants to move on. A deadly game begins, and the urge to give in to Leandra becomes stronger than ever.

Risata has this ability to really build a world, set up the heat, and give you all the romance without having to fluff things out. The tension between Sam and “Lee” is so thick, you could cut it with a knife, not that you’d want to. The back and forth is what makes it a great read. I find that banter really makes or breaks a book for me, and This author never disappoints.

Are you sick of cliffhangers? This book has zero, just a small tidbit of a book yet to come. But there are no shortages of happily ever after on the Grace Risata Amazon page, even if some are a little unorthodox. It’s also fun to have the woman be the powerful one calling all the shots instead of a man. So if you like dirty jokes, steamy scenes, and some humor that will make you laugh and blush at the same time, one click Chasing the Bodyguard now.

Teaching the Dom

Wow. I’ve just finished the spiciest little piece of fiction by Grace Risata called Teaching the Dom and I have a lot to say…but I’ll begin by saying that this book is firmly for the 18+ crowd, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When Melody’s younger sister Harmony signs her up for the latest charity activity, Melody is less than thrilled. She’s not great at collecting money from strangers and is looking forward to heading home after a long, hot day. But a silver fox opening the door and giving her an offer she should refuse, brightens her mood.

Konrad is a has-been, long removed from the fame and fortune he once had as an author, although the ego stuck around. He’s drawn to Melody, and thinks she might just make the perfect muse to his latest book…one that focuses on BDSM.

But this isn’t some “call me daddy”, filthy, smut novel. It’s a little bit more with some surprising elements I normally don’t see in reads that involve BDSM. I was very pleased to see that it wasn’t some gross representation of the BDSM community, but one that’s accessible and not over the top. This book is great for fans on steamy, Midnight reads that might just make you blush.

My Dirty Crown

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Grace Risata. She’s one vulgar lady, but she can string one hell of a great story as you can see in My Dirty Detour, Nights in the Fast Lane (my personal fav), and Ungranted Wishes. Now, My Dirty Crown is a Dirty Detour novella, and while it could be read as a standalone, I recommend you read My Dirty Detour first so you are familiar with the whole cast.

Violet’s been working at the Grim Rock Distillery as their book keeper for a bit. But it’s not just the paycheck she goes in for, but her mega hot boyfriend Rocky, who brought much more adventure into Violet’s life than the mild-mannered, semi-germophobic, woman bargained for. But, the odd couple makes it work and Violets melded into Rocky’s world without too much issue.

Anyways, Violet goes into the brewery, hoping for a lovely date, but instead got roped into shopping with fellow brewery girlfriend, Irena, and anothey brewery worker named Dmitry. To keep from giving too much away, there’s a makeover, a “grizzly” stranger, a crossbow, a biker gang, some sequins, and a series of wild events that seem to find Violet wherever she goes.

Note: Violet is hotter than this and NOT a Disney villain. I just like this movie. Totally under appreciated.

As always, I was a fan of this book. It was a nice way to spend the evening, even if I cackled like a drunk witch, every other page. What was different about this one is that each chapter was from the viewpoint of different characters. You get Violet’s nervous, but vulgar, charm. You see Rocky’s protective side, along with his calculating mind. Then you see how Irena works, when she works the street in her leather pants. All in all, it was another hilarious, action-packet, ride that you won’t regret. So, keep writing, Grace, I’m waiting!

Ungranted Wishes

I find author Grace Risata hilarious. She’s written Mowed, My Dirty Detour, and my personal fav, Nights in the Fast Lane. It’s not rare that I actually laugh out loud while reading something, as my resting bitch face is normally at a steady 8.9. Anyways, let’s dive right in.

Cleo Welch works at her family’s engine repair shop. She works with the computers, tries to bring in new customers, and is generally a productive co-owner…except when Colton Palmer is in the room. He’s like ten pounds of sexy in a teaspoon. But Cleo is able to take her mind off the tall, handsome distraction when she’s participating in her favorite thing; scouring estate sells for vintage items. Some she keeps, most she sells, and some change her life forever.

She’s at an estate sale when she spies an odd looking, brass teapot. Later that night, after several glasses of wine, Cleo has a funny thought. The $5 teapot looks like a magic lamp! And Cleo did what any of us would do while drunk. She made up some rhyming poems and rubbed the thing. But instead of a few alcohol induced giggles. Cleo got much more than she bargained for. A naked dude in her living room, surrounded by smoke.

Like this. Only sexy.

“Beck”, short for Khabekhnet gives Cleo two weeks to make three wishes…which is easier said than done when Beck is a mega hottie with ancient and magical ties. What will Cleo wish for? Will something finally come of her infatuation with Colt? What does Beck’s flirtation with her really mean? And when the two weeks is up, will Cleo have finally gotten everything she’s ever wanted?

Risata is one of those self-published authors that goes for quality over quantity. Do I wish there were more funny books of hers floating around? Yes. But I know that I wouldn’t appreciate them as much if she pumped them out once a week and they were just repeats of her last books, just with different names. Really nice to see someone take pride in their work. Besides, I’ve never read a genre quite like this! Anyways, it’s a bit on the explicit side, but it’s a fun book and you’ll really enjoy it is you’re into a bit of heat. Overall, I really recommend this book, and the rest of Risata’s work for anyone who likes some silly with their sex.

My Dirty Detour

Remember the book Nights in the Fast Lane I read, loved, and reviewed? Here’s another one by the dame author, Grace Risata, titled My Dirty Detour. It’s a romantic comedy with a splash of mob that had me literally laughing out loud.

Germaphobe, plain, average, a pushover, crass, a divorcee; this is how many people would describe Violet when she accidentally wanders into the Grim Rock Distillery, run by a total asshole named Rocky. After a messy first meeting, she trades her book-keeping skills for weekly fight training from Rocky, whose finances are a hot mess. She ends up sorting out more than just the giant box of crumpled bills and gains the respect of her new coworkers. Well, except for Rocky. He’s a douche sandwich that constantly spends his time shoving his nastiness down Violet’s throat when she’s really invaluable to his business. Ya gotta wonder why she stayed.

But people change, seasons change, and some other shit, and Rocky sees that being a douche sandwich doesn’t get shit done and that he needs Violet to sort out his hella messy life. He’s had a tough go of things and Violet’s no-nonsense, but honest, demeanor appeals to him in a strange, and new, way. Violet can say the same about her mysterious boss who slowly helps her crawl out of her shell and heal from her divorce, which left her more subconscious and lonely than ever. But Rocky has just as many secrets as he does muscles.

Violet and Rocky both evolve in this delightful book where truths are exposed and characters are pushed to their personal limits. Much like Risata’s other book, I found myself reading at every available moment, just to see what happened next. It had sex, a band of flashy Russians, a plain Jane who could be any of us, and a hot guy with a bad streak and a heart of gold.
