The Fae King’s Dream

I made no secret of how much I loved The Fae King’s Curse when I read it. It revived me my interest in fantasy romance, so when I heard Jamie Schlosser was coming out with a new book set in the same world, you know I had to get in on the action. Now, let me help to introduce the cover and blurb for The Fae King’s Dream, coming November 19th.

The first time I meet Damon, he rescues me from a nightmare. Literally. I’m stuck in a coma, and my mind is forcing me to relive the horrific accident that put me in this state over and over again. The gorgeous fae king is the only one who can give me peace.

As if the dream can’t get any weirder, he tells me we’re soul mates. He says he can fix my banged-up brain. He wants to be my hero.

Little does he know, I just might end up saving him. Because once I wake up, the real challenge begins. A bunch of vengeful witches want him dead, and they’ll stop at nothing to seal his fate.

But I’ve got plans of my own. The coven has caused too much tragedy, and I’ll defend my newfound love, even if it’s the last thing I do. And it just might be, because if Damon doesn’t survive, neither will I.

book review, New Book

Sentience

New book alert! So many fun stories are being brought to life this fall, and my most recent read is Sentience by Courtney P. Hunter. The Hunger Games meets West World in this science fiction thriller perfect for reading on a dark night.

  • Genre: Science Fiction
  • Heat Level: ❤️❤️❤️
  • Overall Rating: 4/5 Glass Slippers

Leo joins an experiment with twenty three others, hosted by a tech company called AlgorithmOS. They enter into a synthetic world known as Eden and are tasked with finding who the AI robots are. Perfectly imperfect and carefully crafted, each robot is indistinguishable from their human peers.

The group consists of people from all walks to life from a priest to a lawyer to a student and a corrections officer. Four aren’t human, and no one knows who are the AI, even the AI themselves. This massive Turing Test begins to take a toll on its participates as their begin to wonder if nothing around them is real.

This book was wild, you guys. I’m picking with my sci-fi reads, but this one really drew me in with the mix of realism and technological advances people can only dream of. I spent so much of the book trying to distinguish who the AI were and how things would pan out once friendships and bonds began to fray. Every time I would think I had it a little figured out, someone else would happen to make me question everything.

The only thing that I found difficult in the book was keeping track of the many characters as it flipped between points of view. Their backstories and conversations were important, so you have to pay close attention to each part so you don’t miss anything. Everything else, like the technology and the process of the experiment was laid out neatly and in a way people like me with a limited scientific background could understand.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing the way only a thriller can with the soft moments of romance tucked in. I recommend this book to fans of sci-fi and high concept ideas who crave a bit of guessing as they read.
