The Fae Warrior’s Princess

It’s no secret that the Between Dawn and Dusk series by Jamie Schlosser is one of my favorite fantasy romances of all time. It’s good luck that it’s 20 degrees in New Jersey and The Fae Warrior’s Princess has just come out! While nothing can compare to the tale of Kerian and Quinn, each couple in this series is always a delight.

  • Genre: Fantasy Romance
  • Heat Level: ❤️❤️❤️ ❤️
  • Overall Rating: 6/6 Glass Slippers

Princess Dani of the Night Realm knows why her father’s best warrior, Torius, left to go on an assignment in the human world. As fated mates, he feared what his king and best friend would think if he told him he was fated to be with his only daughter, the future queen. While the Fae aren’t considered old enough to wed until they’re 21, Dani decides 19 years is long enough, and hunts Torius down in the human world, looking to cement their bond once and for all.

Torius is overjoyed to see his mate and complete their bond…until he learns she’s not yet 21, making their joining a punishable offense. He reluctantly agrees to stay in the human world longer with her until everyone in the Night Realm forgets the pesky law that Dani calls antiquated. But a day in the human world is a year in the Fae one, and it doesn’t take long until someone comes to find them. But it isn’t to punish them, it’s to bring a warning.

The plague that once killed most of the young female Fae is back with a vengeance. Highly contagious and deadly, it also brought darkness with it that killed the crops. The curse is hard to break, nearly impossible, but the Night Realm king knows Torius can help end it. Now it’s more important than ever to keep the meeting bond a secret.

Torius has the ever popular “I’ll kill anyone who touches her” vibe I enjoy in my romances. I like when the male lead is completely and utterly devoted to his partner…and has many killed a few people, but you know how that is! I was also initially worried how the fated mate at birth scenario was going to shake out. If it was anything as terrible and awkward as the whole Jacob and Reconciliation mate thing in Twilight, I was going to cry. But lucky for me, Schlosser gave the pair literal worlds between them until Dani was old enough.

This book hits the ground running in a way the others before it haven’t. Not to say the others in the series weren’t fantastic. But we dive right into the heat, and the drama swiftly follows, giving us a lot to keep us hooked until the very end. Seriously, I read it in one sitting.

Overall, I call this another win for the fantasy romance lovers. Snag your copy of The Fae Warrior’s Princess asap so you don’t miss out on the fun.

The Fae King’s Prize

I think Jamie Schlosser’s Between Dawn and Dusk series is the only Fae-themed collection of romance novels that can get me to count down the days. Now there’s a new book coming on April 8th, just in time for me to have something lovely to read when I’m up late with a new born!

When I wake up at a female auction in a world I don’t recognize, all I can think about is getting back home to Texas. I want absolutely nothing to do with a realm called Valora, magic, faeries, or being sold to the highest bidder.

But the Day Realm king has other plans.

Zander says I’m his fated mate. I don’t believe him. That doesn’t stop him from tricking me into marrying him, though. It doesn’t matter if I argue or run—he won’t let me go.

I should hate him. Instead, I find myself ridiculously attracted to the stubborn, broody man. Sometimes he terrifies me, so I don’t know why his rare smiles give me warm tingles or why his arms make me feel safe.

Everything about Valora is confusing, but after just a short time here, I realize something—this place is full of dangers that are way more frightening than my new husband, and staying by his side just might be my only option.

The Fae King’s Dream

OMG Jamie Schlosser is back with another amazing romance novel I adored in her Between Dusk and Dawn series’s. If you remember, she also wrote Between Dawn and Dusk, and The Fae King’s Curse. Today, we’ll be talking about The Fae King’s Dream!

  • Genre: Fantasy Romance
  • Heat Level: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
  • Overall Rating: 6/6 Glass Slippers

Like all the Fae kings before him, Damon is doomed to be blind until he finds his fated mate. Not happy to wander the world sightless, he decided to take matters into his own hands and travel through the dream world to find the woman who can break the curse. But when he finally finds her, meeting her with the help of a high pitched whistle, it’s nothing like he imagined.

Whitley was a normal, human, college student before a car accident kills both her parents and puts her in a coma. A handsome stranger comes to her, telling her what happened and promising to do all he can to help her survive. But even Damon’s constant presence in her dreams may not be enough to get her to wake up. Still, she trusts he’ll do all he can to save her, even if it costs him everything.

The pair feel the connection at once, sensing deep down in their cores how important they will be to each other. They just hope it’ll be enough to ensure a happy ending.

I can never not love this series. Each time I read an ebook copy, I end up buying the paperback as well just because I enjoy the story so much and think the covers are gorgeous. The men are romantic and beautiful and the girls are likable, realistic, and funny. Each make a perfect pair that you can’t help but cheer for.

Damon was amazing. His passion for finding his fated mate was clear from the first chapter and his attempt at using “humanists” to connect with Whitley were hilarious. He also brings that certain kind of sensuality that I’ve come to rightfully expect from all of Schlosser’s Fae kings.

Overall, this is a romance for all romance lovers. It’s adorable, sexy, and sweet, with a splash of the unknown that keeps you on your toes.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

The Hunger Games is a comfort read/watch for me. I really loved the apocalyptic setup author Suzanne Collins created. So when The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes came out, I snagged my copy right away.

Overall Rating: 4/6 Glass Slippers

Coriolanus Snow was born in the Capital of Panem to an old Capital family. He had the name and the prestigious penthouse to ensure all doors were open for him. But his parents are dead, leaving him and his elder cousin Tigress to care for their ailing grandmother and make sure no one knows how impoverished the once noble Snows have become.

As the 10th annual Hunger Games draw bear Coriolanus and his classmates are giving the chance to mentor a tribute. He’s given the girl from District 12, a slight against him, as it’s the poorest and weakest district. But his tribute Lucy Gray Baird is a born performer, and soon captures the heart of the capital.

While preparing for the games, Coriolanus and Lucy Gray find they have more in common than they knew, and soon they’re falling fast. From snake bites to escape plans, Coriolanus must decide if he should take of the mantle of the Capital or throw it all away in the search for love.

When I first heard about this book, I was skeptical. We know Coriolanus Snow as a villain, a sickly, evil poison or without a good bone in his body. Collins promised us a new look at the president, one that would make us think differently. I found myself reading, looking for fault in the unsure, charismatic boy who worked day and night to keep the snow family in line with the rest of the capitals elite. I was even rooting for him to come out on top, some thing I didn’t think I would do.

I was completely ready to adore this book, even though some parts were slower than I would’ve liked. But the ending made it difficult for me to love it. It was sharp and sudden, leaving so many unanswered questions that made me close the book with frustration. I know not every book is tied up in a neat bow at the end, but I have to say that I was truly disappointed.

One thing that didn’t disappoint, was the look at the formation of the capital, the way the districts interacted, and the lives of every day citizens. Before, we only knew what Katniss, an uneducated girl from District 12 knew. But Coriolanus was the son of a war hero, a scholar, someone who had an idea of how the larger world worked. Getting the extra locks into peace keepers and what led to the formation of the Hunger Games and beyond was really exciting.

Overall, I liked the book, but didn’t completely love it. Although, if Collins comes out with a new story set in Panam, I will be the first one in line to buy it.

The Fae King’s Curse

I’m back to chat about The Fae King’s Curse, the second book in the Between Dawn and Dusk series. If you remember, I actually read and reviewed Between Dawn and Dusk already and it got my fantasy romance seal of approval!

  • Genre: Fantasy Romance
  • Heat Level: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
  • Overall Rating: 6/6 Glass Slippers

The firstborn children of all Fae king are blind and can only regain their sight when they meets their fated mate, or soul mate. If they do much as kiss someone else, they will remain blind forever. Kirian, the prince of the Night Realm is no exception. Though he wishes he were as soon as he meets Quinn, a human girl who saves his life when he’s just a child.

Quinn is twelve when she meets Kirian, an odd boy she fishes out of the water. He promises to come back through the timed portal and see her the next day, but a day in the human world is a year for a Fae and she nearly doesn’t recognize him. This continues for years of daily meetings for her and centuries of yearly meetings for him until Quinn is eighteen.

Quinn’s loved him since childhood and fears one day he won’t appear in the woods near her house and he’ll be off with his true fated mate. Before she’s set to leave for college, she tells him she can’t meet him anymore. Loving him and knowing he will one day leave her forever kills her. Then, Kirian does the worst thing possible…he kisses her.

With one kiss, the pair is woven into a tapestry of curses, stardust, and fate.

This is what I was missing in Between Dawn and Dusk. I adore first meetings and Schlosser gave me a good one when a lavender eyed Fae prince and a small town girl in overalls met beside the river and felt sparks. The slow burn was perfect.

I love, love, loved this book and I’m not a huge fantasy romance fan, usually steering more towards the JRR Tolkien vein of elves and dwarves. But the way Quinn and Kirian’s relationship developed and the small quirks they each have had me swooning. I literally read it it one siting with a single break to make whipped coffee and turn on a light. It was funny and heartwarming, but steamy and dark all at the same time.

Congrats, Jamie Schlosser, you just created a fantasy romance fan.
