Enemy Inside

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from our girl Penelope Marshall. You remember her, the author of such books as Rosaline, Unleashed, Teach Me, and many more. Well, she’s back with book one in The Captive Series, Enemy Inside.

Heat Level: ♥♥♥♥♥

Overall Rating: 6/6 Glass Slippers

Genre: New Adult/Military Romance

Kenzie St. Claire had lived a charmed life. Raised by loving parents in an affluent neighborhood, the rich and beautiful woman could live any life she wished. But all of that changes when her parents are found murdered, mere blocks from her home. Since that fateful night, Kenzie hasn’t left her home in two years.

After two years, the irrational fears still overshadow everything else in her life. She goes through numerous personal body guards, looking for one who doesn’t get bored of watching over a recluse. When handsome ex Navy Seal Zander Smith is assigned to shadow her, the pair click and Kenzie finally feels she can breath again. But their initial sparks start to fade when pro football star Ty Crenshaw takes a liking to the beautiful heiress. But not everything is as it seems, and not everyone is safe in the little gated town. And if danger ventures into Kenzie’s home, would she be able to face her fears of the outside in order to save her own life?

As always, Marshall takes us on a wild journey of lust and twists. I’m serious about the twists. In almost every one of her books, she’s turned everything upside down at some point, leaving our characters in new places and times with a different outlook on their situations. But these twists aren’t pointless. Looking back at each book, Marshall leaves little bread crumbs that make you wonder for you missed her clues. So, if you like thrilling mysteries, sex, and hot guys, pick up a copy of Enemy Inside.
