I know we’ve already reviewed this, but it’s been rereleased as an extended version, giving us better look into the many characters. As you might remember, this is a military/mafia romantic thriller in the form of Indecency by Penelope Marshall. Written in multiple points of view, it tells a vivid story of one woman’s fight for survival, those who aim to help her, and the men who want to bring her down.
Overall Rating: 6/6 Glass Slippers
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Celeste is being held captive, the sex slave of Rez, a powerful mafia boss. After Rez makes the rookie mistake of forgetting to lock the door behind him, Celeste takes her chace at freedom. She’s been “missing” for years and. when she tries to go back to her family, the new apartment owners tell her that her parents were killed by the mob years ago. She knows that Rez has tied up loose ends and is going to want her back.
Hunter is an ex navy seal that now works for Citadel, a private security company. He meets Celeste by chance after their cars collide and finds himself drawn to the wounded girl, still covered in fresh bruises from her captivity. Hunter promises her safety, but an old friend has the capability to ruin everything with one phone call.
The story is suspenseful and tight. As always with Marshall’s work, I wish it were longer, but that’s basically my only regret about this mega-fun book.
